My friends at Krylon sent me product to try and asked me to create a DIY Project using their spray paint. So of course I painted flowers on their Chalkboard paint! With fall fast approaching I thought it would be fun to make a DIY Monogram Project that you can gift to the Hostess upon your arrival! Or what a fun gift for the wedding couple who love vintage and rustic decor!
I found the durable kraft color letters at my local craft store. They can be painted any color you wish. I thought a chalkboard base would be super cute to add chalk flowers to. It is easy and you can easily do this project at home.
INGREDIENTS
– Krylon chalkboard spray paint
– Sponge brush
– Rubber gloves
– White chalk or chalk paint brush pen (love!)
– Cardboard to protect your surface
– Outdoors preferably for spraying base paint
– Sandpaper
– Love, and a little bit of time!
DIRECTIONS
1.) Place your cardboard letters on a sheet of large cardboard outside. Make sure there is no rain or wind.
2.) Put on your rubber gloves to protect your hands, especially if you have a lovely manicure.
3.) Spray your letters evenly. I used a sponge brush to lightly move the paint where needed. Wait for them to dry.
4.) Once dry, flip and spray the backside of the letters also. Wait for them to dry.
5.) I used sandpaper to roughen up my letters for a bit of a vintage rustic look. The black will come off and create a tiny mess so watch your hands and surroundings so you don’t transfer the black to your clothes or desk. Brush off the letters carefully to remove any dust.
6.) Start drawing on your flowers. I love flowers so that is why I chose them. However, if you love polka dots, lace, stripes, or chevron feel free to draw what you love.
7.) That’s it! Such a cute gift or use for your very own home decor.
CHEERS!
