Just like other invitation design elements, color is a great way to express your personal style. Color trends tend to change quickly due to current events and celebrity trends. It is safe to say invitation design color trends are evolving daily! This year classic hues rule wedding color palettes. Blush pinks and blush peaches paired with super light taupe and soft gold. Super bright colors and with a splash of black are popular for events such as bar and bat mitzvahs and sweet sixteen birthday parties. Birthday parties for women in their 50’s prefer vintage and classic hues of mauve, black, pinks and cream with a dash of burgundy.
Color schemes can convey the mood of your event. Soft pastels are easy on the eye. Bright colors signify energy and youth.
In the wedding industry classic, vintage and romantic weddings are most popular. Woodland and bohemian inspired weddings are rising in popularity. Vintage weddings with blush pinks, gray, and creams are very, very popular and will continue its popularity next year. This year simple black ink on cream is very popular.

Watercolor. Hand painted motifs such as flowers, wedding maps, wedding crests, landscapes and venue buildings are so very popular this year. More than ever! See above, Creative. Yay!
Classic. Simple invitation designs with mostly elegant calligraphy inspired fonts are the most popular this year. We love this vintage and romantic design with a watercolor floral or hand painted landscape liner. Classic colors I love are black, navy blue, and burgundy for inks.
Soft watercolor hues are still popular this year. Perfect for a destination wedding invitation with a beach chic theme or floral garden themed event invite. Soft ocean blue hues in gradient brush strokes make for the perfect sea-worthy background. Keeping the invitation elegant with modern typography and calligraphy style fonts. Large watercolor floral hues in bright pink, yellow, or orange grab your guests attention and communicate a fresh summer venue.
Bright colors and metallics are very popular for our younger clients of 13-16. Think turquoise blue, bright pink and vibrant purples. Paired with metallic silver creates the perfect modern invitation design.
Pastels. Soft hues in the lightest blush pink, blush peach, lightest blue, sage green, and gray are perfect for elegant wedding invitation design with almost any theme.
Metallics. Rose gold and Gold metallic remain popular again this year. Many many many clients are using rose gold and gold in their weddings and events. Rose gold and silver are gaining popularity. When choosing gold foil printing for your invitation design remember the cost is extremely high and adjust your budget as needed. Or opt to use a gold metallic and white twine hand-tied into a bow, add a gold metallic card backing, and / or glitter your invite to add the sparkle you love.
Matching or Mix Match. Motifs are hand illustrated and match your theme. Depending on the client, matching each stationery piece with the same motif or creating similar motifs related to your theme is very popular.
When choosing colors for your invitation design keep in mind the linens color options and venue detailing. Go with a color scheme that matches your theme.
