Just like other invitation design elements, color is a great way to express your personal style. Color trends tend to change quickly due to current events and celebrity trends. It is safe to say invitation design color trends are evolving daily! Just like 2014, this year pastels rule wedding color palettes. Bright purple and hot pinks are popular for events such as bar and bat mitzvahs and sweet sixteen birthday parties. Gray text remain a popular choice for simple wedding invitations.
Color schemes can convey the theme and style of your event. Pastel colors are soft and easy on the eye. Bright colors signify energy and youth.
Blues. Think navy blue, royal blue, sky blue, and ocean blue hues. We are seeing a rise in requests for Navy Blue invitations for weddings. Paired with yellow or bright and light pink for summer weddings and silver for winter.
Floral Blooms. Large flowers, and small blossoms illustrated in watercolor remain very very popular at Mospens Studio. Large bright floral hues in hot pink and purples grab your guests attention and communicate a fresh summer venue. Soft large blue hydrangeas are perfect for an elegant garden wedding. Warm coral and bright pink hibiscus flowers are amazing for a Hawaiian and tropical themed wedding invitations.
Rustic Country Chic. In the wedding industry rustic weddings are STILL very very popular. Dark wood, light wood, browns, burlap tan, and creams create a warm feel of Homespun Charm for Rustic Wedding Invitations. Rustic weddings continue their popularity in barn venues. Soft lighting gives the warmth of orange and yellow hues. Paired with green and cream perfectly. Hand-lettered chalkboard signage continues to welcome guests.
Beautiful washed watercolor hues are still popular this year. Perfect for beach wedding invitations with a beach chic theme. Graduated soft blue hues make for the perfect sea-worthy background. Splashes of watercolor are popular for invitation backgrounds, invitation liners, menus, and favor tags.
Boho Chic. Beautiful natural hues such as soft sage greens, warm lightest browns, cream, and splashes of translucent whites create the warm free nature of the Boho Style. Think warm light taupe for invitation wording in natural hand-written calligraphy style fonts.
Pastels. Soft hues in gray, super soft blush pink, and coral peach are perfect for vintage wedding invitation design with almost any theme. Splashes of gold, bronze metallic, and rose gold are mostly seen with the pastel invitation designs. Silver metallic is starting to make a presence in fashion and will soon pick up popularity in Invitation Design.
Metallics. Gold metallic remains a very popular choice. Many of our clients at Mospens Studio are using gold in their weddings and events. Rose gold and silver are still gaining popularity. When choosing gold foil printing for your invitation design remember the cost is extremely high and adjust your budget as needed. Or opt to use a gold metallic and white twine hand-tied into a bow, add a gold metallic card backing, and / or glitter your invite to add the sparkle you love. Gold flat matte ink is a very popular choice with our clients.
When choosing colors for your invitation design keep in mind the linens color options and venue detailing. Go with a color scheme that matches your theme. Be flexible and find colors that are close to your event colors. If a color is off only a bit, more than likely the hue is just right. Have fun!
